皆さんこんにちは、ファイナルファンタジーXIVプロデューサー兼ディレクターの吉田です。
当初6月16日にリリース予定だった、FFXIVパッチ5.3『クリスタルの残光』は、
新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）の影響によりリリースの延期となり、
楽しみにしてくださっていたプレイヤーの皆さんには、大変ご迷惑をおかけしています。開発チーム／運営チーム／QAチームともに、在宅勤務を余儀なくされる中、
開発体制の再構築を行い、ようやくパッチリリーススケジュールを確定することができました。FFXIVパッチ5.3『クリスタルの残光』は、2020年8月11日（火）リリース予定です。
「なんとか7月中にリリースを……」と、ギリギリまで詰めて開発を続けてきたのですが、
24人レイドである『YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse』第二弾と、セイブ・ザ・クイーン第二幕『南方ボズヤ戦線』のプレイヤー参加規模が大きく、
このデバッグと調整を徹底して行うため、その体制構築に時間を要することとなりました。開発はそれぞれの在宅環境で行えるようになったものの、QAチームによる大規模検証は、社内での多人数参加が避けられません。
そのため、スタッフの安全を考えるとソーシャルディスタンスを守った検証環境を用意する必要がありました。
結果的に当初のリリース予定である6月16日から2か月弱の遅延となりました。
誠に申し訳ございませんが、ご理解いただけますと幸いです。新型コロナウイルス感染症との闘いは、今だ道半ばという状況ではありますが、

Therefore, considering the safety of staff, it was necessary to prepare a verification environment that protected the social distance.
As a result, there was a delay of less than two months from the originally scheduled release of June 16.

Although the fight against the new coronavirus infection is still in the middle of the road,
The development/operation/QA teams have built a solid work environment centered on the home within the last two months.
Partly because of that, for patch schedules after patch 5.3,
We plan to release it at a pace of more than 3.5 months, which is close to the interval so far.

Unfortunately, I don’t think I can recover the blank period of less than two months that has occurred this time.
If you try to push forward the schedule of patch 5.4 or later in order to regain that period,
You have no choice but to reduce the content volume, which will damage the quality of the major patch itself.
Rather, I think that the greatest achievement is that we have built an environment where development and operation can be continued from anywhere in Japan or anywhere in the world.
We believe that rebounding on the quality of future patches and expansion packages is positive in the long run.

And since the plan is completed in several years, I do not dare to reduce the number of major patches,
I would like to continue to proceed firmly as originally planned.
